Who we are
ThisLife is made by EB Studio, operated by Bektur Kazakbaev (an individual developer), Shopokova 99/1, 10, Bishkek - 720000, Kyrgyzstan (KG). For data protection law, that makes us the "controller" of the limited data described here.
Questions or requests about privacy go to eb.studio.support@gmail.com.
This policy covers the ThisLife app on iOS and Android. It does not cover the websites or apps of the third parties named below, which have their own policies.
Data that stays on your device
Everything you do in the game is stored locally in a database on your device. That includes your characters, their lives, your achievements and your settings. It is never uploaded to us. We can't see it, and we can't recover it for you.
The app does not ask for your name, email, contacts, photos, camera, microphone or precise location. Character names you type in exist only inside the game.
The app works offline. It goes online only for the ads and purchases described below.
Data collected by third parties
We use two third-party services. Each receives some data from your device when it runs. We don't receive or store this data ourselves, apart from the purchase records RevenueCat holds for us.
Google AdMob (ads)
The app shows ads through Google AdMob on iOS and Android. In the free version, short full-screen ads appear between game years, and you can choose to watch video ads for rewards in the game. To serve and measure ads and prevent fraud, Google may collect:
- your device's advertising identifier (the IDFA on iOS, only if you allow tracking, or the Android advertising ID);
- your IP address, from which Google estimates an approximate location (country or city);
- device and app information, such as device model, operating system, language and app version;
- ad interactions, such as which ads were shown and whether you tapped them;
- diagnostics about ad loading and performance.
Depending on your choices (see Your ad choices), ads are either personalized, based on your interests, or non-personalized, based on context and approximate location only. Your choice changes which ads you see, not whether the free version uses them.
The ad service runs on every device, including for people who have bought Remove ads or ThisLife+ on iOS, so Google may collect some of this data even if you never see an ad.
Google's privacy policy explains how it uses this data: policies.google.com/privacy, and How Google uses information from apps that use its services.
RevenueCat (purchases)
Remove ads and ThisLife+ are sold on the App Store only, so RevenueCat runs only on iOS. We use it to check your purchases and keep your subscription status up to date. RevenueCat receives:
- a random app user ID that the app creates. It isn't linked to your name, email or store account;
- purchase information, such as the product, price, currency, store country, transaction IDs, purchase and renewal dates, and whether a subscription is active, expired or refunded;
- device and app information, such as operating system and app version.
RevenueCat stores these records for us so your purchases can be restored. Its privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy.
Apple and Google (app stores)
Apple handles payment for purchases under its own policies, and we never receive your card or billing information. There are no purchases on Android. Apple and Google also give developers aggregated, anonymous statistics about installs, crashes and sales.
Your ad choices
- Consent (EEA, UK and Switzerland). On first launch, the app shows Google's consent message. You can accept or refuse personalized ads, or manage your choices by purpose.
- US state privacy rights. If you live in a US state with a consumer privacy law, the same message lets you opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information for targeted advertising.
- Change your mind at any time. Where these rules apply, the app shows Settings → Privacy options.
- App Tracking Transparency (iOS). The app asks for permission before using your advertising identifier. If you tap "Ask App Not to Track", it isn't used, and ads aren't personalized based on your activity in other apps. You can change this later in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Android. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in Settings → Google → Ads (the path differs slightly by device).
- Turn off ads on iOS. Remove ads stops the ads between game years, and you can still choose to watch videos. ThisLife+ stops all ads. Neither is sold on Android.
Why we process data (legal bases)
If you live in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, the legal bases are:
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Personalized ads | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
| Non-personalized ads, ad measurement and fraud prevention | Our legitimate interest in funding a free game |
| Processing and restoring purchases | Performance of a contract with you |
| Keeping purchase records | Legal obligation (tax and accounting) |
How long data is kept
- Game data stays on your device until you delete the app.
- RevenueCat purchase records are kept while your purchases are active, and afterward for as long as tax, accounting or legal rules require. You can ask us to delete them sooner (see below).
- Google AdMob keeps ad data under Google's own retention policy.
Deleting your data
- Delete the app to remove all game data from your device. There's no copy anywhere else.
- Reset your advertising ID in your device settings to break the link with past ad data.
- Purchase records: email us at eb.studio.support@gmail.com and ask us to delete your RevenueCat record. To find your record we need your app user ID or a store receipt. Deleting it doesn't cancel a subscription. Cancel that in your App Store account first. Once the record is deleted, the app may no longer restore past purchases on a new device.
There are no user accounts, so there's no account to delete.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR or US state laws such as the CCPA), you may have the right to:
- ask what personal data we hold about you and get a copy;
- correct it, or have it deleted;
- object to or restrict how it is processed;
- withdraw consent you have given;
- opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for targeted advertising;
- complain to your local data protection authority.
We don't sell personal information for money. Showing personalized ads may count as "sharing" under some US state laws, and you can opt out as described in Your ad choices.
To use any of these rights, email eb.studio.support@gmail.com. Because we hold so little, most requests are answered by the device settings above, or by us asking RevenueCat to act on your record. We answer within 30 days and won't treat you differently for using your rights.
Children
ThisLife is a life simulator with mature themes, including crime, war, illness, death and simulated gambling. It is not directed at children under 13, and its store listings carry age ratings for teens and older. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the app and data about them reached RevenueCat, email us and we'll have it deleted.
International transfers
Google and RevenueCat process data in the United States and other countries. Where data leaves the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, these providers use safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
Security
Game data is protected by your device's own security. Data sent to Google and RevenueCat travels over encrypted (HTTPS) connections.
Changes to this policy
If the app starts handling data differently, for example by adding a new service, we'll update this page and the date at the top before that version of the app is released. For significant changes, we'll also tell you in the app.
